Elder Dragon | Ancient Forest, Rotten Vale |
A variant of the might Vaal Hazak, this version comes crusted with spores that spew a torrent of toxic effluvium at any who draw too near. Unlike the standard version's dark appearance, the presence of these spores gives Blackveil Vaal Hazak an ironically lighter coat of white. If you didn't think Vaal Hazak could get any grosser, think again.
Rank | Title | Region | Monsters | Unlocks | Cutscene Triggered |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
MR5 | Under the Veil of Death | Ancient Forest | Blackveil Vaal Hazak | Complete this quest to unlock A Light from the Abyss. | Area 12 |
Things You'll Need:
- Max/Mega/Potions
- Nulberries
After defeating Seething Bazelgeuse, you'll need to go out on the hunt for elder dragon tracks on optional quests. You'll most likely remember doing something similar in the base game as you searched for the original 5 elder dragons. After you've built up enough ecological research on the new monster you're about to fight, you'll get a new quest from the Field Team Leader, which you can use to initiate a fight against the disgusting Blackveil Vaal Hazak.
Once ready, head out for your hunt in the Ancient Forest, and make your way to Area 12. You'll probably want to start at the camp near Area 5 and then make your way west through the winding paths to Area 12. Here a short cutscene will commence introducing you to the new variant before letting you to go town hacking an slashing.
If you find yourself struggling with this monster, consider crafting or equipping some of the armor, weapons and jewels found below.
Note: These weapons and armor pieces are the ideal options for the FIRST time you fight this monster. While you now have most of the armor at your disposal, there's still a few more sets you can't get your hands on yet.
Ideal Armor Pieces | Ideal Weapons | Ideal Decorations |
---|---|---|
Best: Master Rank Damascus Armor (Defense) | Best: Master Rank Fire, Dragon or Blast Weapons (Glavenus, Ebony Odogaron, Brachydios) | Effluvia Res Jewels, Vitality Jewels, Recovery Jewels, Defense Jewels |
Next best: Master Seething Bazelgeuse or Velkhana Armor have the next best defense | Next Best: There isn't really a second best option as the rest are only minimally effective. Use what you've got. |
