Immunization Requirements


To ensure a healthy and safe campus community, if you plan to enroll in at least one in-person class, live on campus, or access in-person services or facilities on Stony Brook’s campuses, you are required to comply with mandatory immunization requirements.

If you have not submitted the required immunization records,there is a registration hold on your SOLAR account, and you cannot register for classes until that hold is removed. The registration hold will be removed once you complete and submit the requirements noted below. Pleasesubmit all immunization records to the Wolfie Health Portal immediately to have optimal selection of classes.

  • After your medical records are reviewed, if any information is incomplete, a message will be sent to your Stony Brook email address as a secure message from noreply@stonybrook.edu. Please make sure you add this email address to your contacts to make sure messages do not go to your spam folder.
  • To facilitate possible future messaging, please be sure to "opt-in" to receive text messages. You can do so by clicking on the "Forms" tab in the Wolfie Health Portal, and scrolling down to select "Text Messaging Opt-in."


New Undergraduate Students for Spring 2024:
You will receive an email with your NetID information 2-3 days after you have paid your deposit. You will need your NetID to access the Wolfie Health Portal. Within 10 days of receiving your NetID, you must submit your immunization records to remove a hold that will then allow you to work with an Academic Advisor to register for Spring 2024 classes.

New Graduate Students for Spring 2024:
You will receive an email with your NetID information 2-3 days after matriculation. You will need your NetID to access the Wolfie Health Portal. Within 10 days of receiving your NetID, you must submit your immunization records to remove a hold that will then allow you access to register for Spring 2024 classes.

MMR Requirement

New York State Public Health Law requires college students to submit proof of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR). There are several ways that you can obtain and submit proof of immunity. Please scroll down to the Frequently Asked Questions for examples of acceptable immunization records.

Meningitis Requirement

New York State Public Health Law requires college students to receive and acknowledge receipt of information on Meningitis OR submit proof of vaccination. Please scroll down to the Frequently Asked Questions for examples of acceptable immunization records.

COVID-19 Vaccination Recommendation:

We strongly encourage all students to obtain the COVID-19 vaccine and the subsequent boosters, once you become eligible.

Health Sciences/East Campus Students:

If you are a Health Sciences student or taking any classes at East campus, please contact your specific program asstudents enrolled in any program or course or who are participating in a clinical or internship held at a third-party location must continue to comply with all health and safety guidelines, including any COVID vaccination or testing protocols that are in place at the third-party location. In addition, certain employees, students, and volunteers at healthcare facilities, including Stony Brook Medicine and SUNY healthcare facilities and hospitals, may be subject to mandatory COVID-19 vaccination pursuant to relevant regulations and policies.

  • Please see below according to your student status:

    • These requirements also apply if you move from a fully online or study abroad semester to a semester that includes at least one in-person class, residing on campus, working on campus or accessing in-person services or facilities on Stony Brook’s campuses.
    • If you are a new student, submit your immunization records as soon as possible, but no later than 10 days after receiving your NetID. The earlier you submit the immunization records, the earlier you can register for classes.
    • If you are an employee working on campus and plan to register for undergraduate or graduate classes, you must also submit the required vaccination information to the Wolfie Health Portal.
    • Student Health Services will accept signed or stamped copies of your immunization records from your high school nurse's office, family doctor's office, pediatrician office, large pharmacy chains, walk-in or urgent care clinics, or local health department clinics. All documents can be obtained by requesting copies of your vaccine records without making an appointment. Examples of immunization records include signed certificates from a health care provider, immunization registry records, military immunization records, or migrant records. All immunization records must be signed or stamped by a health care provider. In addition or in place of these records, we will also accept a completedStony Brook University Immunization Form signed or stamped by a medical provider.
    • Blood tests to confirm immunity can only be used for MMR. If you have a blood test to confirm immunity, the official lab report must be submitted.
    • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination must show the type of vaccine, date(s) administered, and lot numbers with signed or stamped health care provider certification. The Excelsior pass is not accepted.
  • Once you collect all of your immunization documentation, please upload them to the Wolfie Health Portal.

    Wolfie Health Portal Instructions

    We do not accept physical, emailed, or faxed copies of health records at Student Health Services. Students are responsible for uploading immunization records to the Wolfie Health Portal.

    Immunization records in languages other than English can be submitted, but please allow 10 days for translation. These documents must include your name and date of birth and must be uploaded to the Wolfie Health Portal. You will not be charged a translation fee.

    Immunization records that have been submitted to the Wolfie Health Portal are reviewed and verified by our compliance team. Please allow up to three business days for any submitted records to be reviewed, and once all required immunization records have been verified, your registration hold will be removed. After your medical records are reviewed, if any information is incomplete, a message will be sent to your Stony Brook email address as a secure message from noreply@stonybrook.edu. Please make sure you add this email address to your contacts to make sure messages do not go to your spam folder. In addition, to facilitate possible future messaging, please be sure to "opt-in" to receive text messages.     • Click on the Immunizationtab. You will be able to see the documents you have uploaded and their "status"
    • Documents received and processed are shown as "verified"
